About Green Mission Kitchen
Green Mission Kitchen offers catering for events, such as festivals, parties, shop launches as well as work shops and private classes.
In the summer of 2011 I helped out a permaculture foundation on the Island of Malta and got fully into the green movement. I also started a side project called 'Green Finger' which involved Veg Out nights. Veg Out nights were open air events showcasing relaxed shanti vibes, accompanied by vegetarian treats, psy-ambient tunes and lovely people.
2012 was the time to bring a few concepts together and hence GREEN MISSION KITCHEN was born.
As a result a more interesting, varied, economical, healthy, impulsive, delicious, and expedient kitchen is now operating. Our goals are to help people realise the importance of recycling, energy savings, seasonality, sustainable agriculture and that vegetables are tasty if cooked with care and thought.
Whats stewing in the pot; at the moment I'm concentrating on markets, so hopefully you see us at one of the local markest soon. Im also putting together a workshop called 'Tasty Morsel' the vegetarian pantry.
At Green Mission Kitchen we believe in sustainability, healthy eating, permaculture values and creating as small a carbon footprint as is possible. We believe that even our waste can be put to good use. We are in partnership with local businesses, that recycle, re-generate, generate electricity and fertiliser, all from the processing of food waste & packaging.
Unless disposable products are requested by our client we use re-usable trays for all our catering events and use environmentally friendly cleaners. Cleaning products used are plant based and safe for water systems. Any disposable platters, plates, cutlery, bags etc which are used are fully biodegradable and compostable, again leaving the smallest possible footprint.
We try and use base our catering on a vegetarian based diet but can accommodate fish or meat choices. We use chemically and hormone free fed meats, sustainably caught fish and non-genetically engineered products. We tend to use a mixture of the products but not necessarily always organic, in order to have competitive prices. The sole use of organic products is available on request.
Of course we can’t claim to be completely neutral to the planet but we are taking more steps everyday to lighten the load of the damage we cause and try to find other like minded organisations and companies to_ help in the effort.
We are only one piece of the process and it requires dedication along the whole cycle to achieve these goals.
